The Description: On March 22nd-23rd, BlogHer will host our second annual event designed for women who want to start something, whether their goal is to strike out on their own with a brilliant idea, or to bring an entrepreneurial approach to innovation within a company...something often called "intrapreneurism". The event is called BlogHer Entrepreneurs and is made possible by support from Host Sponsor, Citrix. Last year's inaugural event was launched in response to the recurring questions: "Where are the women in tech?" and "Where are all the women starting companies?" BlogHer's answer, since 2005 when we launched the first BlogHer Conference, has always been to create the opportunity for women to show up. Show up to learn, connect and advance. Show up to find resources, including one another. The women who attended received in-depth one-on-one mentoring with some of the leading women in technology and media, an experience that was curated by BlogHer to align each attendee with a mentor who could closely align with her interests and learning needs. Through this mentoring and the three rich tracks of programming, attendees received insight into every step of the entrepreneurial process, and also how to be more entrepreneurial and develop more leadership within a larger corporate framework. Attendees ranged from women beginning to contemplate a leap into the start-up world, to those who were already leading funded start-ups, to women simply hoping to develop skills that would advance their careers to the next level. The mentors confirmed for 2012 so far are: - Entrepreneurs. Including Sue Callaway, Founder and CEO of the Auto 100, Barb Dybwad, co-founder of Tecca, Holly Hamann, serial entrepreneur and co-founder of BlogFrog, Shani Higgins, CEO of Technorati, Sandy Jen, co-founder of Meebo, Joanne Lang, CEO of AboutOne, Nicole Lazzaro, Founder of XEO Design, Alicia Morga, serial entrepreneur, angel and Founder/CEO of Refleta.com, Ellen Pack, co-founder of appSmitten and former co-founder of Women.com, and Kim Polese, former CEO of Marimba and SpikeSource.
