If you are looking for a safe and challenging place to skateboard in Santa Clara, look no further than the city’s own skate park. With features like vertical quarter, half pipe ramps and street features, this skate park has something for skaters of all skill levels. The park is open to Santa Clara residents and Santa Clara Unified School District students daily after school hours throughout the year and all afternoon long in the summer.

Whether you are a veteran South Bay skater, or a novice with your kids in tow, this skate park has something for every level and is one of the more popular destinations for skaters in the area. Get there early in the summertime and on weekends to be sure that you have room to skate safely. On more crowded days, you will have the opportunity to see some of the most skilled shredders in Santa Clara show off their tricks in the bowls and on the street features. For kids interested in learning new tricks and tips, this is a great place to meet the best skaters in the area and make some friends.

Santa Clara Skate Park is located near the Walter E. Schmidt Youth Activity Center (Cabrillo Ave. & San Tomas Expressway). It is open to skateboarders or rollerbladers from Santa Clara neighborhoods every afternoon. Children less than five years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and registration packets must be filled out for each skater entering the park. For children (or adults) wanting to learn the basics of skateboarding, Santa Clara’s Recreation Department often has skateboarding classes offered at nominal fees.

This 16,000 skate playground was designed to be both safe enough for the general public’s use, and challenging enough to satisfy the more experienced skaters in Santa Clara. With several vertical quarter-pipe and half-pipe ramps and concrete bowls, skaters can enjoy both a traditional skate park and competitive arena. The skate park also has several street features such as a stair/rail combo and many curbs and other ledge elements for more advanced boarders.
