Adventures in Elegance From Mission Chamber Orchestra
Pianist Sandra Wright Shen takes the stage with conductor Emily Ray and the acclaimed Mission Chamber Orchestra of San Jose for their 19th season opener, which spotlights Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21 in C, as well as Schubert's Symphony No. 6 in the same key. Shen won first prize in the 2012 International Piano Competition of France, and has toured the world, with appearances at the Kennedy Center, the Monte Carlo Opera House and elsewhere. She'll show her stuff on Mozart's concerto, known as "Elvira Madigan," or so it was dubbed after 1967, when its second movement was featured in a Swedish film by that name. Plus, the Monta Vista High School Chamber Orchestra are set to appear as guest artists for the concert, which coincides with the opening of the Trianon Art Gallery, featuring paintings by local artists. |
